Supporting Local Talent at BC’s Best Butcher Competition

At Rangeland Meats, we believe great butchers are built through hard work, experience, pride in the craft, and a genuine respect for the industry. That’s why we are incredibly excited to once again support our very own Tyler Wilson as he competes in the 2026 BC’s Best Butcher Competition.

After putting in impressive performances over the past two years, Tyler will return to the competition floor on May 23 at Thompson Rivers University’s Culinary Arts Training Centre in Kamloops, where some of British Columbia’s top butcher talent will go head-to-head in a showcase of skill, creativity, precision, and professionalism.

For Tyler, the competition is more than just a contest — it’s a reflection of a lifelong connection to ranching, agriculture, and the meat industry.

Born and raised on a small ranch in Little Fort, Tyler grew up learning the value of hard work, respect for animals, and life outdoors. Those early experiences helped shape a career that has taken him across Canada and the western United States as both a ranch hand and rodeo competitor. Today, he brings that same passion and experience into his work at Rangeland Meats every day.

When he’s not in the shop, Tyler enjoys spending time outdoors hunting and fishing with his family. During the colder months, he also enjoys leather work and tying fishing flies — hobbies that reflect the same patience, craftsmanship, and attention to detail that make a great butcher.

Competitions like BC’s Best Butcher play an important role in strengthening and promoting the industry. They provide an opportunity for butchers to showcase the skill, creativity, and dedication that goes into producing high-quality meat products while encouraging innovation and growth within the trade.

Events like these also help shine a light on the next generation of skilled trades within agriculture and food production. From meat cutting and presentation to craftsmanship and efficiency, the competition highlights just how much expertise is involved in the profession.

Perhaps most importantly, it brings together members of the industry who share a passion for their craft. The sense of community, mentorship, and knowledge sharing that comes from these events helps keep the industry strong for years to come.

At Rangeland Meats, we’re proud to have dedicated industry professionals like Tyler on our team. From the ranch to the cutting room and ultimately to your table, every member of our team plays an important role in delivering the high-quality products our customers have come to know and trust.

We’re proud to have Tyler representing both Rangeland Meats and our local ranching community once again this year, and we know he’ll bring the same dedication and work ethic to the competition that he brings to our customers every day.

If you’re in Kamloops on May 23, be sure to cheer him on! From all of us at Rangeland Meats — good luck Tyler!
